Ideas Dome. SXSW
South by South West Festival (SXSW) asked for a bigger dome than the 10 metre dome used in 2024. The Dome Company provided our 15 metre diameter hemisphere dome with a custom ‘pull-over’ cover made by 3D Inflate, Melbourne.
Challenge
The client requested a full digitally printed dome skin. The time frame did not allow for the production of a new skin; so we contracted 3D Inflate to make a light-weight printed cover which was dragged over the existing Ferrari 502 cover and secured with velcro and nylon cords.
Solution
Further branding of the dome skin was done with a large stick on/removable decal: The Ideas Dome. Powered by The Growth Distillery
Setup and execution
The 15 meter dome was erected in one day and incorporated 15 tonnes of concrete block ballast and Hexapro flooring. Roll up sections of the canopy and large pedestal fans kept the dome cool.
