Solution
Using The Dome Company proprietary lifting equipment (portable tripod and chain blocks) we are able to build up to a 22 metre diameter dome in one day (with the cover on) without the need for scissor or boom lifts or even electricity.
This means that our domes can be erected into tight spaces (we have built a 15m dome between 2 walls 15m apart) and do not need expensive cranes or motorised lifts which cannot operate on soft ground.
Also, because the domes are built with the cover already on, we can easily pause construction in heavy rain or wind.
Setup and execution
At Broadbeach we built the 4 domes in 3 days, with flooring and air con installed. 30 marquee pegs were used on each of the large domes, 900mm long.
Take down of the 4 domes was done in 2 days. All components and lifting gear were transported in one 7 tonne Pantec truck.
Outcome and benefits
The Broadbeach site was a hive of activity and the domes were always full of people throughout the Commonwealth Games.
